Hands




My brief was to create a contemporary take on a classic theatrical play – Bertolt Brecht's, The Threepenny Opera. The play has a lot of poverty and corruption, both of which can be symbolised by the human hand. I cast my own hands in stainless steel, using the process of lost wax. My original intention was to photograph the cold steel hands but afterwards I realised the wax hands (created during the casting process) were far more menacing and befitting of the job...
